About the treatment

Treatment shaped around you

Precision therapy combines evidence-based psychotherapy, continuous follow-up and optional additions when they are assessed as right for you.

Precision therapy

What is precision therapy?

We call our way of working precision therapy. In line with developments in mental-health research, we look beyond diagnoses to the unique combination of physical, psychological and life factors that affect how you feel and respond to treatment.

At Nūvai we use modern tools to collect and follow relevant information about you, aiming to increase treatment precision and adapt support to your individual needs.

The goal is sustainable change.

A continuous process

Mellanrum — where therapy continues

Precision therapy is not only about what happens in the therapy room, but also what happens between sessions. That is often where insights are put into daily life — and where change can become difficult and begin to matter.

We call this Mellanrum, also the name of our digital follow-up tool. With your consent we collect information such as sleep, breathing, activity and recovery, alongside your own descriptions of thoughts, feelings and behaviours. Mellanrum gives us a better opportunity to guide the therapeutic process as it develops.

The process

How treatment works

From first contact to ongoing follow-up — with a plan shaped around you.

Step 1

Apply

Through the website or a referral from a therapist, psychologist or physician. A referral is never required.

Step 2

Digital screening

An initial digital conversation where we get to know you and your situation.

Step 3

Preparation at home

For three weeks we collect information such as sleep, movement and heart function through a ring, together with short questions in our app.

Step 4

First clinic visit

You meet your responsible therapist and a physiotherapist for a physiological assessment.

Step 5

Psychotherapy process

Usually 8–12 sessions. Between visits we use Mellanrum to understand your response and improve precision over time — always with your consent.

Step 6

Optional addition

A way to support and deepen the therapeutic process. This always takes place at the clinic after a careful assessment of risks and benefits.

Step 7

Evaluation and follow-up

We follow up and adjust your treatment continuously, together with you.

Precision therapy is always a process adapted to you.

Treatment additions

Sometimes therapy alone is not enough to reach the change you seek.

After an individual medical and psychological assessment, therapy may be complemented with methods such as ketamine or breathwork. Every addition is introduced carefully, evaluated systematically and adapted to your goals, needs and response.

  • Optional
  • Integrated into your ongoing therapeutic process
  • Individually assessed by a physician and psychologist
  • Preceded by careful preparation and followed by integration

Additions in three phases

01

Preparation

You and your therapist prepare carefully so you know what to expect.

02

Treatment

The addition is introduced to strengthen the therapeutic process.

03

Integration

Together you process what emerged and weave it into your continued therapy.

Medical addition

Ketamine

Nūvai specialises in medication-assisted treatment with ketamine and always follows current regional guidelines.

Ketamine has been used in healthcare for more than 50 years. Every treatment is preceded by a careful medical assessment and closely monitored during and after each session.

Non-medical addition

Breathwork

Soma+IQ is a body-focused breathwork method used in psychotherapy. Guided breathing supports body awareness, presence and emotional processing. It can be offered individually or in groups.

Partner clinic abroad

Psilocybin

Psilocybin is offered through an accredited partner clinic abroad, in a country where medical use is approved. Treatment is normally 1–2 dosing sessions during one week, with preparation and integration together with Nūvai.

Safety first

When are additions not the right path?

  • Previous psychotic episodes
  • Bipolar disorder type I (for medical additions)
  • Acute suicidality
  • Certain serious cardiovascular diseases
  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding

Additions are not suitable for everyone. We always make a thorough medical and psychological assessment. If an addition is not the right path, we will guide you onward within healthcare.
