Augmentation

What does augmentation mean?

Within precision therapy, augmentation is an opportunity to deepen or strengthen the therapeutic work with carefully selected methods, such as ketamine, that can increase psychological flexibility — in other words, the ability to see your situation from new perspectives.

Support that deepens therapy

Augmentation is used to support psychotherapy and opens up potential for emotional processing and meaningful change.

At Nūvai, augmentation is always:

  • Optional
  • Integrated into an ongoing therapeutic process
  • Individually assessed by a physician and psychologist.
  • With careful preparation and integration

Augmentation always in three phases

01

Preparation

You and your therapist set a clear intention for your treatment through conversation and preparatory techniques. This phase optimises the conditions for a safe and meaningful experience.

02

Augmentation

A specific method is introduced to strengthen the therapeutic process. Options such as ketamine or nervous system regulation are selected based on the clinical assessment made and what you as a client prefer.

03

Integration

In integration, your therapist helps you understand the experience and translate it into lessons that can matter in everyday life. The insights are anchored in your daily routines and ways of relating.

Medical augmentation

Medical augmentation

Nūvai specialises in medication-assisted augmentation with ketamine and always works from current regional guidelines. By combining medicines such as ketamine and psilocybin, which have the potential to relieve long-term low mood, with psychotherapy, further opportunities for lasting therapeutic progress can arise.

In the future, psilocybin may become a treatment path through established collaborations in Europe where its use for long-term low mood is already approved.

Breathwork (Soma+IQ)

Augmentation does not always require medication to strengthen and optimise the therapeutic process.

Soma+IQ is used as a body-oriented augmentation in psychotherapy. Through guided breathing techniques, the method supports increased body contact, presence and emotional processing — with the aim of creating better conditions for insight and change in your psychotherapeutic process.

Safety first

Safety and suitability

Augmentation is not suitable for everyone, always. First, Nūvai carries out a thorough medical and psychological assessment to evaluate any risks and potential benefits based on who you are.
